Stansted Airport are proud to be our headline sponsor this year.
London Stansted Airport is the 3rd largest in London and the 4th busiest in the UK serving 24 million passengers a year. Since being acquired by MAG in early 2013, over £150 million has been invested to upgrade passenger facilities and help Stansted become one of the UK’s fastest growing major airport having added nearly seven million passengers in just over three years.
The airport is the single largest employment site in the east of England with over 11,600 employees across 200 on-airport companies and sits at the heart of the dynamic and fast growing London-Stansted-Cambridge economic corridor.
Firmly positioned as a market leader for short-haul travel across Europe, with over 170 destinations across 30 countries, Stansted serves more scheduled connections to Europe than any other airport in the world. With approval to serve 35mppa, it’s the only London airport with space and permission to grow within its existing infrastructure.
In addition, Stansted is a major cargo hub with over 250,000 tonnes of goods, products and mail – estimated to be worth £10bn in trade and exports to UK plc – passing through the airport’s dedicated cargo centre each year via an extensive global route network.
Stansted also boasts an impressive and growing range of transport links that benefit from the airport’s close proximity to the M11 and A120, as well direct trains to London and Cambridge, and is proud to be the UK’s leading major airport, and one of the best-performing in Europe, for public transport use by passengers with over 50% travelling to and from Stansted by rail, coach or bus.
London Stansted Airport was named London Airport of the Year at the London Transport Awards in March 2016
The airport also holds ISO14001 for environmental management, OHSAS18001 for Health & Safety systems and Carbon Trust Standard for reductions to emissions.
